African tribal mask in wood, we presume Wenge wood, entirely hand-carved with numerous metal applications, we presume copper, entirely hand-modeled. The object was made by the African tribe of Tikar of Cameroon and is an extraordinary testimony of the African ethnic tradition, a unique piece made entirely by hand by skilled craftsmen. Unfortunately we were unable to identify the subject depicted, not being particularly expert in the field of tribal ethnic art, we are probably talking about a shaman, a warrior, a sovereign or an African deity.

From our research we find that masks similar in style and in the depicted subject, always made by the African Tikar tribe of Cameroon are offered from €150 to €500 up to requests of over €2,000 for the largest, with a more complex workmanship, ancient and valuable. Our mask is not particularly large, but it is very old, truly beautiful and features artistic workmanship of great value.
