Very large unusual and nice antique copper engraved scene of the French revolution in Paris in 1789, drawn by Charles Monnet (1732-1808) and engraved by Isodore Stanislas Helman (1743-1806).
The scene describes the famous day of the Serment du Jeu de Paume.
It is a solemn commitment of union made on June 20, 1789 at the Jeu de Paume, in Versailles, by 300 deputies of the Tiers Etat, with which some deputies of the clergy and of the nobility associate themselves during the Etats généraux of 1789. They swore an oath not to separate until a constitution was drafted.
